State Track Meet @ BYU

So, part of getting ready to compete at this level is getting "the look" just right! Rylee went in cornrows to this year's event ... pretty cute!

Here's Rylee throwing the shot put on Friday. It was nerve-racking to watch. She threw in the second heat. Her throw qualified for the finals. She placed 5th in the state in division 4A. Pretty good for a freshman! I'm so proud!

Ry was pretty pumped up for Saturday's event ... the discus. She was in the second heat and had qualified with at throw of over 120'. So she didn't seem nervous. But when she got out into the ring, she panicked a bit. She scratched her first two throws. Her coach suggested that she stand throw to at least get one qualifying throw in. But she knew that she couldn't stand throw and qualify; she needed to throw at least 105'. So she went for it ... and scratched by a hair. Her third and final throw was out of bounds by about 6 inches. Heartbreaking for her. There were lots of tears as she came off the field late in the afternoon.

This is a picture of Ry & me back at the team tent. Still upset, but getting over it. Next picture, with the boys ... much better!

Here's Rylee with two of her good friends, Milo & Travis. Helping her to cheer up!

I still have a hard time believing that Ry is old enough for all this stuff. Crazy. She's dang talented though.
