Alpine Academy: Alumni Weekend

On June 11th, we held our second annual alumni reunion at the campus. It was a lot of work to get ready for, but worth every minute of the time it took. One of the most special things for me was that mom was able to be with me for the whole event.

Here's some silly pictures of the kids out on the lawn at our first evening opener:

And a cute picture of Mom with Miss Payton!

And one more of the monkeys playing around on the waterfall ...

The weekend began with a special dinner and program for just the alumni girls and their families. We had a neat program for the girls and a delicious dinner.
On Saturday, we started the day with ice breaker games and breakfast. Then there were workshops for the parents all day. Mom was able to attend and had a good time. It was neat to see her getting to know some of my dear friends and meeting the amazing families that we work with.
Julie came out in the afternoon to join us for the party. In the late afternoon, we had outdoor games and horseback riding. Baylee rode for awhile while grandma and Julie and Lani looked on. It was cool to see her so excited. And she had a little excitement ... JJ bucked but didn't throw her off!
The evening program was the best part of the whole event! We had a special guest speaker, Chad Hymas, come and talk to the girls and their families. He's an amazing man who has chosen to take a bad accident and turn it into an opportunity to help others. The message was ... give the people you love your time. And pay attention to how you treat the people around you. There was not a dry eye in the house as he shared his story.
Our school choir performed, there were several special presentations, and a silent auction to raise money for the scholarship fund.
I am humbled to be able to be involved in such important work. And to get to spend a weekend with some of my favorite people in the world was like icing on the cake! Mom, Julie, Lani & my kids all there to celebrate with ... What a party!
